As professional Makeup Artists we decided to write a blog about what we get asked on a regular basis from brides!  Here is our second blog of questions! Please let us know if you have any questions for bridal makeup! 

 

Is getting  a makeup trial important? 

  • Yes! It is very important to get a makeup trial done so that way you and your makeup artist are on the same page for your makeup look!  Getting a makeup trial will also leave the bride feeling confident in the product and the artist.  If you were to have an irritation to the product its better before than on your wedding day!

Is it hypoallergenic?

  • There are so many brands that are now hypoallergenic, but the main thing you want to see is that it is non comedogenic meaning it will not clog your pores.  Depending on what ingredient you are actually allergic to will determine if you react to it.  Make sure to tell your makeup artist what you are allergic to so they don't use it on you!

Is it okay to do a smokey eye for the big day?

  • Yes for sure as long as your makeup artist knows what they are doing! This is another reason why doing a makeup trial is so important!  I have had brides that want to look sweet and innocent with natural makeup to hard core dark makeup! It is YOUR day and you need to look the way you want!  Having a dark smokey eye can be really pretty as long as it doesn't turn into a messy I got punched in the eye kind of look! 

What if I want a bruise or tattoo covered?

  • If you want bruises or tattoos covered you definitely want to let your makeup artist know before hand. Depending on how big the tattoo the makeup artist may need more time for covering.  Also some artists do not feel comfortable or may not have the correct product to cover tattoos.  Remember, you get what you pay for!

How to get that Oscar glowing look

At the Oscars there was nothing but flawless skin, beautiful highlighted cheekbones and gorgeous eyes and lips!  We loved how all the beautiful ladies either concentrated on their eyes OR lips! Everyone looked so pretty and sophisticated.  Here is how to get the latest look like at the Oscars:

It is all about the skin! Try using a really nice exfoliante to take away all that dead skin.  This will give you that glow that everyone has.

Choose whether you want to concentrate on your eyes OR lips.  If you want a fresh look, like Reese Witherspoon, try using a pink lipstick like Veil Beauty Co.’s First Kiss lipstick and finish it with a lipgloss like Blissful.  Use taupe colors on the eyes and use a deep brown eyeliner and finish with lots of mascara!

If you prefer to glam up the eyes, use a deeper color for that smoky eye.  Use lots of mascara and finish with your favorite pair of lashes. Use a liquid eyeliner for the top and a waterproof pencil for under your eye. Pop a light eyeshadow in your inner corner for that glow. Use a nude lipstick or try Veil Beauty Co. Mrs. 

To complete the look, use a coral color blush to finish that fresh glam look!

 

The Natural Makeup Look

The natural no-makeup makeup look is a hot trend right now.  It is all about looking polished, fresh and beautiful!  Here are some tips on how to achieve this look:

  • When looking for a foundation, make sure it's the perfect match to your skin tone. It should not be cakey or matte. Choose a satin or natural finish.  
  • Contour lightly with a powder matte bronzer and use a light pink(for fair skin) or gold(for darker skin) to highlight on top of the cheekbone. You can also apply this under the brow for a glow.
  • Use a brush and brow powder to fill in your eyebrows and brush them through so they look natural.
  • Finish with your favorite mascara and a light pink lip gloss like Veil Beauty Co. Yes! lipgloss.
